Tell us about your garden and what you're growing
I have always been passionate about gardening and plants in general. Living in suburbia I try to incorporate growing food into my gardening as much as possible and currently have a shared garden with my neighbour where my partner and I have been trying our hand at producing chemical free produce for ourselves and our immediate neighbors. I went and completed a permaculture design certificate course and am in the process of leaving my job as a project manager so I can get some space to focus on whats important and get back in touch with my roots. I literally just want to get my hands back in the dirt! So am looking for opportunities to do so. I'm excited to learn more and hopefully be helpful to others along the way. Our current vege garden is approx. 100m2 and through winter we have peas, beans, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, leek, perpetual spinach, silverbeet, kale, lettuces, lambs quarters, beets, carrots, kohlrabi, celery, radish, rhubarb, left over chillies from summer and a myriad of herbs and flowers. We have a strawberry patch, young feijoa trees and are in the process of putting in a berry hedge including blueberries, raspberries, boysenberries and blackberries. We are looking for good local varieties of peach, plum, lemon, mandarin and oranges as well. We are installing a chicken coop as we speak as so eggs to are to come shortly. Lots on the go and looking forward to the (hopefully) increased production in the coming months and years.
