Hello Moggy, I grow walking onions which I think might be the same thing as tree onions the bulbils are only starting to form now. I could send you some in a couple of months.
I lost your e-mail, sorry, if you still want some vine cuttings, email me on col_mic@hotmail.com the vine (grape vine) looks dry with no leaves, I am still learning about gardening.... Happy to give you my phone number, but prefer to do so via email.
Hi Moggy, thanks for letting me know about this site. Martin and I could come by in the weekend if that works for you to shoot some chickens (this still sounds awful!). I could bring the sitar and any shrubs I manage to uplift before then.
it was several years ago I got seeds from them, oh well I will read up about dividing and growing from stolons, wont be for a while anyhow, will wait until late autumn to dig it up and see what the roots have done this year.
HI Moggy, I have heard that if you put an upturned pot with scrunched up newspaper in it earwigs will go there to sleep in the daytime, and you can then dispose of them. perhaps worth a try.
http://ooooby.ning.com/group/southernseedexchange is the oooby group for the exchange, not very active though, the web details are at the top of the page. They send out a seedlist each spring which is always full of goodies. the email address to join is info@southernseed.org.nz they hold a few workshop events through the year and have autumn and spring seedswaps.
HI Moggy, I am seriously obsessed with seed saving too :)
In my opinion it is a very important task, lots of the older people that used to do it have passed away and a new generation needs to get serious about it. have you checked out the southern seed exchange in christchurch?
Thanks Moggy , infact my OH has done exactly that ! made one out of asome old pallates we had behind the garage and we got a design off fiasco farm website which is great ! , my only problem is getting my Doe to come from the paddock to the shed and leave her kids behind, she was not happy and there was alot of wailing from all parties !! . I have enlisted the help of a lady who lives near by who breed goats and she says she is goign to come and give me some adviceon getting started phew ! I had some very tasty treats in hand but she wasn't having a bar of it ! I will get there ... I really want to make some feta !
I love the photo of the cat, I take it it is yours. I have a soft spot for them and have 2 of my own, well the kids actually, but they have left home and we get left with the cats.
Welcome to Ooooby, Kathryn. OOOOOOO....10 acres...yes please! lol Desert on Banks Pen? wow...I never knew. I'm sure you'll enjoy all the info available on here...and we look forward to more posts from you.
Welcome to Ooooby! I am waiting for the snow to fall, so you will find me in Colorado, USA. I garden under lights in my basement during the winter. (a new project) so will be watching to see what you do with your hydroponics with keen interest.
