I am the Farm Unit Manager at Waihi College. Among other things we have just started an Urban Farming course based on our new school permaculture orchard. I also am practicing permaculture in my (rented) back yard. At Waihi College we are developing an intensive crop rotation system of annuals suitable for our farm, in amongst our newly planted experimental orchard, of over 20 varieties of fruit, mostly heirloom varieties from Koanga. At my home I am experimenting with Dwarf Cavendish bananas (the global commercial variety) to see how they fare in our warming climate. We also have a range of citrus, plus guavas, raspberries and grapes. My annuals are based in a bed that I am encouraging to become feral/minimal care. I will soon have a simple barrel-based rainwater harvesting system for summer irrigation. Aquaponics is currently just a dream, but is our next major project.

Hi  :)

welcome to the tauranga ooooby group, hope you enjoy this site :)

feel free to connect with any of the group members via their pages, or list anything on the group page anytime, should you wish.
and you are welcome to come along to any of the monthly gatherings if you like :)

each month I send out a email via this site, re the next produce share gathering.
it should arrive in your email inbox (depending on what settings you've chosen on this site re mail)    if you don't receive it, (and want to),  check your junk mail, or your ooooby settings, otherwise the group page on here has most of the gathering details & my number, so I can help sort it ;)

the next ooooby gathering is this sunday, am offline until next week but can be contacted via my phone if you are wanting to get further details about it ;)  021 064 9814
