  • Hi Janet,

Is there any way the the NZ Beekeepers Forum can help you and Save Our Bees? We are rapidly growing and I am keen to keep the focus of beekeeper education to help those experienced in keeping bees and those who are new to the hobby to come together in a place where they can share hints, tips and experiences to help protect and expand New Zealand honey bee population.

Why are we different? We are NZ based, specifically for NZ Beekeepers. We have no affiliations, no preconceptions and are not attached to a specific club, company or organisation, so all viewpoints are accepted to allow greater eduction amongst the community.

I'd love to hear from you.

    Kind regards

    Grant, Admin: www.nzbees.net/forum

  • Hi Janet.  I would like to make contact with you about top bar hives.  I have put in submission regarding the article in beekeeper mag.  I understand that you did too.

  • Hi Janet, thanks for the warm welcome, cheers
  • Hello Janet and "Welcome" to the Funk & Flash From Junk & Trash group. Glad to have you!

  • Space is always tight in the magazine, but we would love a blog on bees for the Good website. Is that something you might be interested in?
  • Hi there, I have just had a look at your website, it looks very interesting and informative. I see where you are making TBHs - good on you. Mine is made of macrocarpa also. The chap who made mine is keen to make more , also from the Barefoot Beekeeper plans. It is ok to start bees in the summer, you may not get much surplus honey but I don`t keep bees for that reason, the honey being a bonus, the pollination is my aim, if the weather is good, ie plenty of rain and sunshine, you might be surprised, but you do have to leave plenty for the colder months, unless you plan to feed sugar and water, which is something I avoid.
  • Hi Janet
Great to hear you are getting a TBH - I love mine, and hope to have another for next season. Check out my blog for pictures if you like, http://miro-ngaio.blogspot.com
Where did you find out about the TBH ? The BareFoot Beekeeper is a great website, I downloaded the plans for the hive from there, also brought Phil Chandler`s book.
    Best of luck !
  • Janet are you running another Chookie course I love to be kept in mind please as I will definately be there.
  • Great site with good advice - Thanks.
  • Hi Janet
Would you like to come to the Oooobymeet at my place on July 19 and meet some of the other local Ooooby members? There will be opportunity to swap and share too.
