  • Ha! Culling I can do, but she has a shell - it is just breaking for some reason. Have consulted a vet friend who says its common for this time of year and to give them heaps of greens and protein.
  • Yeah, their feathers are looking a bit scruffy of late so maybe I should get some other grit. They have been fine on shells for 18 months so I thought it might be another reason, and the eggs they do lay (sporadically) are fine, except the one chook. They get plenty of wandering dew in the area between our property and the neighbour, which they have access to. Thanks for the comment. L
  • You are welcome.

Also put some blue borage plants in with the parsley to bring the bees around.
Luv your chooks, beautiful colours and they make such a luvly sound.
  • I can drop off 2morrow as am going to Westgate.
Rain check on seedlings, thank you, as space is full right now
  • Hi Daniel,
I have some greens for your chooks.
Where do you live in Glen Eden?

Your big Marigold shrub looks magnificent growing in the middle of the vegetable garden.
  • Hi Daniel,
If possible can I deliver all the fruit trees to your house on Friday. That wasy I don't have to deal with it on Saturday. There will only be 16 or so. Would also love your help on the day. I hope it doesn't rain too hard. I would also love to talk about follow up work. I am moving to the South Island so I wont be around. But Lincoln Heights Primary will be involved on the day and would like to support and residents who are keen. I'm hoping you can be an gaurdian since you are such a keen gardener. We'll talk about it on Sat. Should I deliver the plants after 4pm on Friday?
  • Daniel. I have exciting news and need to talk to you. Possible opportunity for your whole street. Can you give me a call at work asap? 827 6749 Thanks!!
  • Hi Daniel, sorry to take a month to reply but have been in the Coromandel for 34 days, lovely! You're welcome to any bamboo, any time. Give me a call on 817-5445, we are away again tomorrow to Gisborne until next Tuesday.
  • My very early tomatoes were flops, as i was performing in a choir with the Auckland symphony orchestra over Christmas. The first tomatoes were swelling over this time and have what appears to be blossom end rot they have a blackened bottom end and are decreased in size the next few tomatoes that are coming throught are looking amazing i picked a good basket full earlier and look fantastic there are a few holes on some of the damaged fruit maybe the bugs have been feeding on them? Am also trying the squashing thing if i see them but for a time wasnt sure if they were friend or foe have you got the spotted stink bug or are they green?
  • Hi Daniel. They seem to inject some sort of stuff which rots the tomtoes from that point onwards. My experience is that they do huge damage. I almost gave up on growing tomatoes after a few years of having them damaged in this way. At the moment I am hunting for them twice a day and squashing them on the spot hoping the stink may deter some of their mates from feeding here as well. Luckily my glasshouse is unaffected and providing me with a good crop. Did you see the comment about the neem oil or powder. I will give that a go too I think. Hope you find some solution too Daniel.
