This years olive harvest.
Not a great success story.
We had a good crop in May and kept meaning to pick them in the weekend but didn't.
Then there was a very wet, windy weekend so i couldn't.
Checked again at the start of June and most of the olives were gone.
They weren't on the ground.
I soon realised that birds had eaten them. I'd assumed that because fresh olives are unpalatable to us that birds wouldn't eat them-another lesson learnt.
So I picked all the good olives that were left intending to start pickling them.
But-we had a family crisis and 5 days later the olives are becoming wrinkled.
I may be able to save a jar full.
I'll make a note in my garden diary to be ready to harvest the olives in early May in future.
