Berm to be bombed

Who is down for a little urban guerrilla gardening? It is time to bomb this berm with a lovely veg/herb/flower/small fruit tree patch!

We will be meeting to do some planting in conjunction with Grey Lynn 2030 Transition Towns Event. This is an initiative to make use of the land. It will not only make the neighborhood look more attractive, yet more importantly highlights the importance of local access to the community vegetable gardens.

The aim: to replant 2X2 meters, but if we have enough plants we can go bigger!!
Area is on a main road and therefore could suit some veges, herbs, flowers for bees and fruit trees.

What is needed:
Plants/ Vegs/herbs/small fruit trees, soil, gardening tools, people to help plant

We are urgently looking for last minute plants to be donated for the berm bomb that is to take place in about 1 hour. If you live locally and have some plants sitting around that need to be planted up please contact me to drop them off.

Also it appears that TV3 is going to be doing some filming as well

Hi Richard, thanks for the suggestion. However, depending on the amount of plants that are donated to the cause and the number of people that come along we might plant up a few more berms around the area. We also have a lady who has volunteered to take care of the berm after it is planted which is wonderful! I have a couple trays of sliver beet and beet roots to plant up.

Denise. That is great, definitely interested in the jacaranda and the peach trees. Would you be dropping them off with the kaffir limes on Saturday? Thanks for your support!

Suggestion: The berm appears to be next to a bus stop. In which case tall plants are more likely to attract the attention of the Council as they will block visibility for/of people waiting for buses. Keep it low, and put something very hardy at the bus stop end of the berm.

would love to Christy but am busy Saturday night. Next time count me in! I do have a small self-sown jacaranda that needs replanting... and some self-sown peach trees here and there too... let me know if you are interested in them
