We can't put it off any longer!
It's time to pull our finger out of the proverbial plum and to get our act together.
There are literally thousands of Fruit Trees in Auckland that are simply being neglected with the fruit going to waste.
I have just watch a fabulous video from a mob in Toronto which shows that it can be done. Check it out at notfarfromthetree.org .
So, what's the plan?
Step 1. Form a posse.
If you're interested meet us at the Ooooby Box at 2pm on Sunday the 5th December where we'll have a cuppa and form sub-posses for different zones around Auckland.
Step 2. Find the trees.
With your posse, plan some time to canvas your zone to meet as many people with fruit trees as you can and pop coloured pins into a map for all the different types of fruit trees that people are willing for us to harvest.
Step 3. Timeline the harvest days.
Pick the days to hit the streets, let the tree owners know and book in the posse.
Step 4. Tool up.
Get the bags, bikes and long fruit picking pole thingys.
Step 5. Get picking.
Hit the streets and pick away.
1/3 of fruit goes to the tree owners. 1/3 to the posse. 1/3 to the ooooby boxes.
See you at the Ooooby Box, 66 Surrey Crescent, Grey Lynn, (opposite the black heritage villa at 15 Surrey Crescent) 2pm Sunday the 5th December.
