The Ooooby-versity session held on Thursday evening was a wonderful success. We had 16 people turn up and we enjoyed creative conversations around how Ooooby-versity works and what we would all like to gain from the weekly gatherings.
We discussed ideas on how we could access quality gardening tools at great prices so that we're not forced to buy cheap stuff that only lasts a season or two. More to come on that front.
We also did an exercise to find our how much food was "in the room" by everyone filling out a garden calendar showing what they have in their garden now and what they have coming on. For those who took their forms home to fill out, we're all looking forward to seeing next Thursday what sort of growing power a small group of oooobsters can muster.
Trevor demonstrated his Auto-gro gardening system and explained how he has achieved the 'lazy gardeners' dream system. Less weeding, no manual watering, easy reach and aesthetically pleasing while saving time and water. Personally I think it's a genius system. Low cost too.
This week we will be enjoying a workshop with Helen Cook showing us how to package and present our homegrown food in ecological and beautiful ways for retail display on the Ooooby Stall.
We may also have time to discuss ways to deal with the dreaded Aphids.
If you couldn't make it last Thursday, please come along and join in the fun this Thursday evening.
