I was really really excited yesterday to see that a few of my strawberries have flowers! I didn't expect that they'd be out this early - it's not even Spring yet!

That said, we are starting to see signs of Spring all over the place... The jasmine is starting to flower, my pomegranate that was dormant over Winter is starting to sprout leaves, the fig cuttings I have on the windowsill are starting to go mad...

Neither have I, but figs baked in honey always sound so damn nice!

They're doing really well so far. They finally (after about 2 months in a jar of water on the windowsill) sprouted lots of leaves, then after that some roots which were about 2 inches long on each of the two cuttings I potted up yesterday. I gave them a good feed of seaweed juice, so we'll see how they do in the ground!

FIGS!! You must tell me how you get on with them - I have a mad hankering to grow some, even though I've never even tasted a fresh one :)

Your photos are fabbo Sonya! Well done you! I planted some gifted strawberiies from my friend Mel in pots today, and noticed that the ones Iplanted in July have buds for flowers - not bad for the stroppy Wellington climate....I haven't had much luck with strawberries up till now, so am trying some new varieties and shop bought plants instead of plants scrounged from my mothers garden - a strain that has been there for the 30 years that we have lived there - maybe a more modern variety I thought.....
