Lots of weeding and tidying up to be done. I've planted more lettuce, peas and three artichokes today. The bean fence is up and the bed I've prepared for them will have all sorts of companion plants in it. The potatoe bed was dug over yesterday and the seed potatoes are happily sprouting on the widowsill. This year I'm trying a super fast 60 to 90 day swift, some Maori potatoes and an unknown variety that a friend has kindly given me. Mmmmm new spuds with mint! At the moment I have growing...spinach, artichokes, cauliflower, broccoli, asparagus, leeks, carrots, peas, lettuce, rhubarb, parsley, silverbeet and more. I have many seedlings on the way in my small green house on the terrace. I have just planted a Monty's Surprise apple and two blueberry bushes. Also a coffee plant an a chilean guava. I may have to move the tea plant as it is not doing well where it is but the mountain paw paws have taken off. Maybe fruit next year I hope. I'm hoping to have something of a food forrest eventually and my three hens are a real bonus added into the mix. Nothing quite like fresh eggs for breakfast as they really are totally different to the store bought variety.
