Kai o te Aro
Kia ora, Welcome to Kai o te Aro,
We are a group of locals passionate about growing food and bulding community.
Since early 2009, and starting with our secret garden,
the steps ,
and the orchard,
we have working together to plan and develop a diverse and growing network of community garden sites in teAro Valley.
New Aro gardeners are always welcome, no gardening experience necessary- we learn as we go!
Each month, a different group member hosts the monthly pot luck dinner and garden planning meeting, get in touch to find out when the next one is.
On the third Sunday of the month we meet at 12pm outside the Aro Valley Community Centre, 48 Aro St for our community working bee.
We are always in need of garden making materials, if you have any of the following (or anything else you think might be useful) and don't need it yourself, please let us know:
Wood, bricks, blocks, pavers, concrete, mesh, corrogated iron, tyres, bath tubs, buckets,
Unwanted garden tools, irrigation supplies, garden furniture
Soil, compost, seeds and seedlings.
