Tell us about your garden and what you're growing

Two friends and I started a community garden on land designated to be a parking lot for a Naval contracting company. Ours is an egalitarian garden and we have a mission statement of: Beautify, Educate, Feed the hungry and Grow community. Everyone is a volunteer. We have a zero budget and we give all our food away. We are not into our 4th year. Currently, we have winter greens (mustard, kale, collards, chinese cabbage, beets). Our eggplants, peppers and tomatoes are still producing. Our potatoes will be ready to harvest later in the winter. Our fruits are about done: raspberries and blackberries have just about finished about a week ago, and we won't be harvesting our figs this year--too young. And, our herbal garden is still producing: Rosemary, Lemon Balm, Tarragon, Cilantro, Dill, last of our Basil, Patchouli, Stevia, Sage, Ginger, and a ton of mints!
