Hi I have a very small garden but grow as much as I can fit in. I have been on this property 5 years and grow elderberry,(for tonics), berry delight,(jam), blackcurrants (cordial), strawberry, lemon, apples (granny smith, braeburn and golden delicious), feijoias,blueberrys, grapefruit, passionfruit. and have a small but packed vege garden. I am passionate about growing my own food and also make my own washing powder, soap, and toothpaste. I have an interest in medicinal herbs and make my own winter cold tonic.I would love to be self-sufficient but can only do so much with the space I have. I am interested in maybe having quails for eggs and have just come across aquaponics which I am keen to learn about and maybe set up on a small scale. Would be interested in knowing if anyone has one set up in Hawkes Bay as would like to have a look. I also love having flowers to bring in the bees and butterflies and love nature.
