We live on a small urban block in Fremantle, Western Australia. The back yard is an edible landscape of fruit trees, perennial food plants, vines, vegie beds, chook run... We have 4 different types of apples, mandarin, lemon, orange, lime, kaffir lime, peach, nectarine and apricot trees. Perennial food plants such as blueberries, pepino, sweet potato, pineapple guava, daikon radish and jerusalem artichoke. At the moment we're gearing up for spring planting so will have heaps more, but vegies growing at the moment include silverbeet, salad burnett, mizuna, peas, carrots, pak choy, beetroot, brocoli, kale, bunching onions, white icicle radish, khol rabi, tomato, capsicum, adzuki beans, amaranth, mizuna, lettuce, rocket, Have heaps of herbs growing, spearmint, chives, garlic chives, parsley (italian and afro), yarrow, borage, lemon thyme, lemon balm, apple mint, sage, oregano, comfrey.... and more... can't think. I'm into growing beautiful open pollinated heirloom vegies and herbs... trying to preserve as much of our plant heritage as possible, and save the seed, therefore adapting seed to our local conditions. I'm looking at growing food crops such as tagaste (tree lucerne) for chook food, bedding and mulch.... trying to reduce our dependence on bringing these things into our garden from the outside world. Love my vegies, love my garden, love my chooks... love life!!
