I have a small lifestyle block with a very big garden. Too big for me, as I have developed osteo arthritis lately. So I hired a young woman to help me and she told me wistfully that she wished she had some land locally so she could grow stuff for our local farmers market. She does have some land miles away in the Hokianga, where she grows garlic and heirloom potatoes. The upshot of this casual remark is that in the past 6 weeks we have put in a very diverse collection of vegetables and herbs and are learning a day at a time how to be organic food entrepreneurs.
