Tell us about your garden and what you're growing

Paul and I are a 'mature' couple living in Johannesburg. We became vegan 3 years ago (after decades of being vegetarian). Last year in July we attended a permaculture design course at the Sustainability Centre in East Meon in the UK; a blissful week where we learned so much from our course teacher, Sarah Pugh, who is a wonderful teacher. We are blessed to have a large garden, and though the veggies are a small part of it we harvest something every day. At the moment it's mainly tomatoes, but I have lots of basil, berries, rhubarb, beans and spinach too. I've gone slightly herb-mad too, and am learning as much as I can about companion planting. We also started harvesting water (roof run-off). Johannesburg is a summer rainfall city, typically we have afternoon thunder showers; the idea is to go off-grid. We love permaculture and its principles!
