Tell us about your garden and what you're growing

We built on a lifestyle block and with the house finally finished it is time to get into the garden. I'm growing winter veges including brassica, peas and broad beans, carrots, celery and things are starting to come along. Pukekos are my nemesis digging up bokashi and seedlings alike and I suspect that they might be keeping the slug/snail population at bay but are themselves partial to pecking the leaves of my pak choi and cabbages. I've had casualties among the fruit trees planted about 3 years ago but it's been survival of the fittest till now. Time to get into the orchard as well. I'm currently finishing the first semester of a horticultural course through Northtec, have learnt a lot and am starting to put it into practice.
