I was sorting through old emails and saw the sad exchange we had about a year ago about poor Will-o'. Since then we have taken your advice to heart - we have treasured every day we have with Scruffy. He remains pretty well (he's out for a walk on the Heath with John right now) and when there's a young lady dog around he suddenly can rouse himself and look pretty sprightly and want to play etc. But more and more he sleeps - and he's begun to stumble quite a bit (he fell down the stairs today - not for the first time - and although he didn't hurt himself this time ....). We're planning a 16th birthday party for him in 10 weeks (10 May). How are you, Wim and your (relatively!) new dogs?
[I attach a picture of Scruffy high in the alps last Summer - this particular walk left him exhausted for days - and we took to taking him on hikes in my backpack and then letting him walk downhill on the way back!]
