Tell us about your garden and what you're growing
I live on a lifestyle block in Sefton, North Canterbury. My garden is a blaze of colour and a hive of activity in the summer months. In the winter months things are pretty dormant and I only have leeks, broccoli, cabbage and Kale on the go at the moment (been quite slack this year). I have however managed to plant my garlic seed saved from last season and that is already up. In 2010 I put in a family orchard, last year I didn't let the trees fruit so I am looking forward to sampling a bit of my hard labour this year. I share my home with 8 chooks, 4 cows, a bee hive, worm farm, 2 dogs, two kids, a husband and a house cow. We are spray free and are planet conscious. I preserve produce year round, make cheese, grow and dry flowers and herbs from the garden and use them medicinally. I have never been very good at seed growing so my challenge this season is to ressurect the glasshouse, break out the hundreds of Koanga garden seed packet I have stashed in the cupboard, get planning and get growing!!
