The common areas of a block of 4 apartments. My main interest is in replacing grassed areas with garden. I favour tall less common plants with interesting colour or shape that are edible as well as attractive - artichokes, salsify, grapes, silver beet; fig, lime, damson, olive. I plant closely, choosing mediterranean or sub-tropical plants suited to the fairly hot dry conditions - exposed in the front and shaded at the back. I grow salads and herbs in raised beds made from off cuts of 40cm plastic piping, painted and placed among the foliage.
