I live with my brother & 2 dogs in a tiny old cottage with a long thin well-established garden between the beach & the estuary. Water table 30cm down! Mixture of swamp & sand is challenge to garden. Increasingly wild-gardening - stopped mowing, weeding or digging, put in edibles (veges, currants, raspberries etc) & now just focus on keeping them healthy and supporting insect life. Been eating most weeds & now find it very hard to do conventional 'weeding'. Lots of spare liquid nitrogen since the quake & the lemon tree has been booming!
