I have an acre of land, surrounded by native bush.Organic vege garden and a small orchard.I also keep a small flock of free loading chickens, that seem to take great pleasure in destroying my gardens whenever they manage to find a new ecsape route.

    you can't have too many fruit trees, but when possums treat them like a smorgasbord its pretty demoralising, I enjoy watching the buds, blossoms and baby fruits though! which do you find grow best for you? our nashi is always laden, pears, figs and fejoas do well. we get a handful of plums, hopefully its just because they are young trees and only a few apples survive splitting in the wet spring. the lemon is finally producing a few fruit also after three or four years.

    my chickens will have to be back in their coop now because I just planted some peas and mesclun, and they would have it in a moment!
