Tell us about your garden and what you're growing

Current garden a suburban backyard on fairly fine soil in Havelock North. A culmination of elderly mothers fifteen years horticulture on the site of a rear-section townhouse of same age. Topsoil had pretty much been scraped clear of former half--acre section (sadly, the fate of most of the so called 'Village's" former standard family backyard, ours included!) Mama's 'downsized' section left me cold, as it appeared to my wild-outdoors eyes bereft not only of soil, but heart and soul. However, over the years, lawns and border-gardens were established. During the past three to five years, I have had a hand in working the property. Hence what was primarily a 'horticultural collection' has given way to a more consciously designed Food Forest/Pleasure Garden. Raised garden beds, much made of vertical surfaces, enriched soil, worm farm, bokashi and composting systems integrated. An old ladies food basket, with plenty to spare. Ongoing project (mama now 91, myself semi-resident/still travelling/consulting/teaching/learning all about growning/expanding fifty fivde years worth of Garden Lore
