Behind a tiny, old-fashioned waiheke cottage I am developing an organic garden based on permaculture principles. I have been a commercial grower - small fruits and seasonal vegetables - and a garden writer/design magazine editor specialising in sustainable lifestyles. I love preserving!

    Hello Peta, One thing I'm finding in communicating with Australians and N.Z folks is the different terminology. You got me on a couple! What is a "market flower barrow" and a "op-shop container"? There's a new trend here in the USA, instead of giving a bouquet of flowers, they now make edible arrangements. Here's the link so you can see it.

    My husband had to stop buying me flowers because my kitties attack and eat them! It got to a point that the only place I could keep them was in the bathroom (water closet) window, but that darn George would wait at the door until one of us forgot the flowers were in there and were in a bit of a rush.
    I love flowers and because I can't bring them into the house they do last much longer in the garden beds!
