Hi, I've just joined this group, and I'm  wondering if anyone in the centralish Auckland area might be looking for raw milk?? If so, give me a call evenings on 846 3327, I might be able to help.

Hi, it's not totally garden related but I am looking for a wonderful new home for my cat Ralph. He loves gardens...if that makes a difference? :-) Plus I know that many oooobers would be lovely cat owners :-) He is a sweet young'ish adult white & tabby cat, gentle, quite timid, makes good decisions. Healthy, neutered. He gets stressed around young children but would suit a quiet individual or small family. He is also not very car savvy so needs a non busy location. Mralph%20carpet.JPGy next door neighbour abandoned him when he was evicted almost a year ago but now I sadly can no longer look after him. He likes to come and hang the washing out with me & play with the pegs. Looking for a safe, stable home environment for him to see him into the future. Feel free to email or text me - 022 04144 55 /

We have a Permaculture/food forest property in Mangawhai available for sale - or rent, -  It's approx 90 mins north of Auckland, 4 mins to village & close to beach. Many fruit/nuts/subtropicals/medicinals planted, +native bush & a 3brm house.- We would also love to meet other growers in the area, just contact me privately:

Is there anyone in the Glen Eden area interested in working with me to start a community garden near the beginning of the cycle/walkway at Savoy Rd? I'd like to get this started ASAP. Please email if you're interested. The idea is for fruit trees and vege gardens and herbs and composting on site. Please let anyone know who you think might be interested. Thanks and look forward to hearing from you!

Waiheke Island E-Bike kit Group Buying. Update on the mid-mount, bottom-bracket ebike motor kit:

Looks like we will cut off at the end of this week or beginning of next (by the 15th of October at the latest). So far everyone who is in is going for the kit option of the better INR 29E battery which with motor & accessories works out to NZ$1,421 for everything. We also will be running an installation party on a sunny Saturday for DIY folk.

See for details.

In summary, we spent a year researching ebikes to find who made the best (affordable) motors and batteries, and visited three factories in China before settling on the new Bafang BBS01 motor and the Samsung INR 29E battery (specs: 403 w/hrs, 11.2 a/hr, 37v and 2.2KG). Both the motors and the batteries are being purchased direct from the respective manufacturers and the group buy reduces shipping costs substantially.

The motor is new for 2013, and far superior to the hub motors commonly available. It drives the chain, which means it uses the gears, like a car. It's also a lot quieter. The battery is phenomenally light for the power it delivers. Most importantly, they fit on most bikes. You put it on your own bike; it is a kit, not an ebike.

We planned to buy six kits for our foundation, but when others heard about it, they asked if they could join in. We will be cutting off orders by the 15th because it will probably take 6-8 weeks before we get the kits and we want them before the summer holiday.

So if you are interested go to and use the contact tab.

Note: This is a one-off. Once we have the kits we need, we won't be repeating it.
