Here in Wellington gardening groups and like-minded people are meeting and working together like never before. All sorts of growing,and educational projects are under way - including a Transition Towns exhibition currently running at St Pauls Cathedral.
On your yard sharing website there are maps. The only request there from Wellington is Annie who lives in an apartment and asked for a garden to grow veges in. I'm in 2 Wellington community garden groups close to the CBD. I don't have a yard to share, so I don't strictly fit the criteria for that membership but I figured Annie may want to join a community gardening group, if she doesn't know about them already.
At first I was not able to respond to her request - my message would not register. But this time round I think it worked. I just wanted to direct Annie to Ooooby, or via my email where she could connect with Wellington gardeners. Don't want anyone to miss out on this fun.
I've sent your yard sharing site details on to other like-minded people. This is definitely an idea that is taking off here, so we can all benefit from your garden-sharing members' experience and suggestions, whether we follow exactly the same model or not.
