  • Hi raina if you are interested in buying local food go to the fruit n veg shed kerikeri road loads of local stuff there they will also buy your surplus from you as they love local
  • Hi Raina,
Myoga Ginger is grown for its flower buds which are harvested before the flowers open. They are sliced fresh into stirfries or used with pickles or meat dishes. The young shoots in spring are also eaten, however the knobbly roots are not traditionally used. However I cannot see why you couldn't try and eat those too if you like :)
  • Hi Raina : We also purchased some ginger from Koanga some years ago. Thought it was Japanese ginger. At present, we are picking the flowers. Pick shoots in the spring. Delicate flavour, best eaten raw. Sorry, can not put a face to the name Wendy.
    Regards, Dian & Dennis.
