Tell us about your garden and what you're growing

I'm just into my second year of growing and have already learnt so much over the last year, which saw me growing tomatoes, capsicums, eggplants, broccolli, cabbage, cauliflower, spinach, lettuce, silverbeet, peas and various herbs. They were mainly grown in pots as I live in a rented unit with a tiny backyard. And I made my first relish and tomato sauce which I sent home to my family in Malaysia! This time round, I've moved from container planting to three small raised beds and in addition to the above am also now growing strawberries, french beans and cucumbers. And the best part is getting into companion planting with the use of herbs and bee-attracting/soil improving flowers (borage, nasturtium and marigold). The results so far (it's early summer now) has been promising and my garden is producing much more and much earlier!!! Still have plenty to learn though: i had NO idea how LARGE and prolific borage can get....but at least the bees are happy!!! ;)

  • Beautiful. Perfect. Cool. Thanks for the blog.
  • Well thank you Tabitha. And I was thinking that you may have been having a dig at my no photo thing in retaliation to my dig about your no profile photo thing. Which by the way....?
  • Can you see no images on the blog post? It is a series of youtube vids. Have they not shown up on your screen? Thanks for letting me know Tabitha.
  • A profile photo would be cool too.
  • Create an album with all of them perhaps and then do a blog with a few good ones scattered through?? Up to you.
  • okay. On Saturday afternoon i will be at the Trust's Stadium on Central Park Drive helping to set up for Toddler Day Out.
  • Hi Tabitha. I didn't realise you had already joined. I sent you a message on Facebook. So do you think you could post some of your photos from Kelmarna here on Ooooby?
  • Hi Tabitha, welcome! You may find it helpful to check out the links in the "Start Here" box on the upper left of the Main page. And please do add a picture of yourself, which you will find a link to on your Settings page.

There's a lot happening in here and places for you to jump in and contributre and get involved in some local food sharing or other initiatives.

    Enjoy!
