Tell us about your garden and what you're growing

My main role relating to Oooby, is that of the South & East Auckland Chapter Leader for the Weston A Price Foundation. My garden is a jungle of weeds - thanks to the very damp summer thus far! I like to grow herbs and a few veges and fruits. Something weird happened to our plum tree this year - after flowering prolifically in the spring, it mysteriously started turning up some of its new branch ends, and all the masses of plums that developed have all but disappeared :( We suspect it had something to do with our neighbour spraying down hers and our boundary because my French sorrel has completely died as a direct result of that but the plum matter started a while after that - its located at a lower level than the sorrel but beyond the feijoa which doesn't seem to be ill affected - at least yet. Oct 2012 - we unfortunately had to have the plum tree cut down - it never seemed to recover from whatever it was - perhaps it had borer as there was some saw dusty stuff at its base. Now to finally plant the NZ grapefruit tree that's been waiting for so long....

  • Hello Caroline! A bubble envelope will be fine, will just pop them in a ziplock bag for you. Let me know when you've put it in the post so I know to look out for it:)
  • Hi Caroline, I am on Kohi Rd, just up from the Allum St shops. I have a fair few caterpillars, too, but they seem to be well distributed over the plants with plenty of food for all!

  • Hi Caroline, thanks for adding me as your friend, and welcome to ooooby. I see that you are a WAP chapter leader. That is fantastic. The WAP group here on ooooby keeps expanding almost everyday! Cheers, Bridget

  • Hi Caroline, the chickens have found a new home.  Thanks for asking.

  • What a lovely day it was on Sunday - I didn't get the chance to pop over and say "Hello" as we had to dash.

Tannis has given a copy of her book to Sally, and also sent a copy to Kay Baxter, so we're hoping for some constructive feedback from both of these amazing ladies.

Could I please ask if there are any WAP Dr's in the South Auckland/Franklin area?  I am in Bombay, and my regular Dr is in Meadowbank - a bit of a drive, and very anti the good fats and low carb thing (especially as I am diabetic)...

  • Hi Caroline

Can't wait for Sally's visit and talk - I got tickets for the 1st of April for my mother and me.  Her book is the one that got me started on my journey, and I'm sure that it's going to be a wonderfuld day.

I was wondering if I could be a bit forward, and ask if you would be interested in reading a small book that my mother has written, and we are releasing in PDF format on TradeMe - it's about the effect of sugars (Carbohydrates) on the human body, and will shortly be followed by a 'first 100' recipes book once I finish it...

If you are interested in reading the book and writing a small review, please let me know, and I'll send you a copy

    Cheers

    Tara
