  • Hi Linda, I wish we had peastraw at a reasonable price for mulching. I usually use chippings from branches or bark or compost. Try to catch the guys that prune the street trees, they will sometimes drop a load to you... but I dont want to get them into trouble ;)

    I only just read your query about a local community garden. I know that there is one in Henderson called MEG or ( Millbrook Edible Gardens ) and another in Ranui. They aren't all that local to Avondale but I just thought you might like to know. I can give you the details if you want them.

  • Hi Linda, I'm not sure if this is too far away from you, but there is an awesome organic community garden in Royal Oak at the Disibility Centre. Loads of veggies are available for purchase, and they are always looking for volunenteers to do some work in the garden! It's a truely great, great place. They also have 3 monthly markets- the next one coming up in February! Kylie
