Tell us about your garden and what you're growing

Grow just about all veg...peanuts, quinoa, flax, chia, Jerusalem Artichoke, sugar beet, sorghum, and heritage types of regular vegs. Some have a hard time with the salty harsh winds we get even though we have shelter cloth up. Garden is on a flat (not to many of those here either) so in the process of making low raised beds after the wet winter we've had. We are long time gardeners but there is always plenty to learn.

  • Hi Kiwi,
My garden and orchard have been very productive. However, the property changes hands mid March and it will be a couple of years until my new orchard comes into production. I'm planting into Evergrow root-trainer bags that miniaturise trees, enabling them to be planted closer together. I'll therefore have lots of variety ripening during the season. Best of all, the trees won't get more than 6ft tall - no ladders, and easy to cover to keep the birds off!  I'll have supplies at my garage sale tomorrow, and take them to the Carterton Farmers' Market most Sundays.

Can't think of anyone suitable for your needs but will get back to you if I cam across anyone.

  • thankyou Kiwi, that will be grand

  • was wondering if this was the bird you seen?

  • Hi

Where in Auckland are you from.

I just read plums and... you know.

  • just wondering Kiwi, have you had a go at processing sugarbeet? I am growing them for the first time this year, i think I have them too close together, how big do they grow?

  • Hi Kiwi : We buy food grade diatomacious earth, for our own use, and can pass it on, @ $20.00 / kg, plus post.  Larger or smaller ammounts are fine.

    Cheers,

  • parcel in post today, I included a selection of my seeds and a couple of other things to fill up the box. Postage was $10.40 a bit more than I expected because you are RD. If you accept my friend request we can discuss further.

  • I could see if I can separate off a piece of yacon to send you, its been under some weeds so a bit stunted lol. how much would you want to spend on postage?
