  • Hey Emily,

  • Hi Emily,

I am a new ooooby member. I have just joined your city rooftop food gardens group as I am also interested in a similar field and would love the opportunity to pick your brain.

I’m in my final year of a 4 year industrial design degree at Massey University.

For my final year each student decides on a problem or an area that they would like to improve on. We then spend the entire year researching and developing this.

For my final year project I want to make sustainable living more achievable for non-property owners. One of the ways in which I believe this could be achieved is a product that allows people to grow their own vegetables.
The angle I'm working from is that I want it to be easily transportable and maybe even something that can be customized/ personalized for different living situations. It is also important it doesn't affect the property in any way.

So maybe if you have any ideas/ suggestions for this or maybe know of someone who could help me in this area would be hugely appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Andrea

  • Hey Emily,

I've just moved back from overseas and I'm keen to get involved in some community projects.  Your rooftop gardens sound really interesting.  I was working on some similar urban gardening projects in Mexico City.  Here's my email, let me know if there's anything I can do: charlimaar@gmail.com

  • Hi, ive been useing these bins made from recycled plastic 560w x 360b x 220h, 33 litres, really happy with the size, depth, moveability for different seasons..., can supply them for $17+gst (out side of auckland central and waiheke + postage) if any one is interested.

  • Great event last night Emily. Fabulous turnout. We're having a meeting tonight in Grey Lynn to reveal the 'Box' to anyone who can might like to support it's launch on the 23rd September. It would be great if you could join us. It would also be good to have another catch up soon to discuss ways we can support each other. Have a great day.
  • Thanks for the info Emily, nice to meet you too. I'll check out the link. I found another gardening course which I've signed up for. If you're interested details are at http://www.facebook.com/?ref=home#!/event.php?eid=118105741548129&ref=mf
It's with a group called Dirt Doctor and they'll be doing 3 short seminars on compost, dealing with weeds and micro-organisms.
    Go well with the rooftops!
  • RE Rooftops garden,
Emily you need to talk to Dion from Rainbow Valley farm. He has experience in establishing rooftops garden in the States. Could you click on my page to aknowledge you've read this. Cheers
  • Emily, I have forwarded your blog to Nick Collins at Beacon Pathway (www.beaconpathway.co.nz) and asked him to forward to his networks. He is well connected so you never know..
