Biodynamic compost making & garden tour of Whole Health Hinemoa



When: Saturday 24 July 2010    1pm - 3pm

Where: 150 Hinemoa St, Birkenhead


What to bring: Some compostable material (seaweed, grass clippings, food
scraps, cow manure etc) and a plate for a shared afternoon tea.  Also
please wear suitable clothing, gloves and footwear.

Whole Health Hinemoa are a group of families who have created a communal
garden with an intention to grow their own food all year round based on
organic, biodynamic and permaculture principles. Their aim is to evolve
the property into a food forest while dealing with the challenges of
achieving this in an urban setting. Darren Millington (an ex student of
Taruna) will be running a composting workshop on the day using
biodynamic compost preparations (502-507).

Directions: Take Highway 1 over the harbour bridge, take first exit at
Stafford Rd, turn right at Queen St then first left onto Rodney St.
Left at Council Tce which becomes Maritime Tce.  Then turn right onto
Hinemoa St.

Thanks to all the organisers, speakers, sponsors and participants that
contributed to the 70th anniversary conference. The 100 or more people
attending mostly seemed to think it was a great success.
