Preparation 500 is made by burying cow horns filled with fresh cow manure in the earth over the autumn and winter period. It is the basis for soil fertility, and the renewal of degraded soils. If new to biodynamics this application is usually the first to apply to your garden. Ideally it is applied in Spring then again in Autumn. So this date was selected as, according to the biodynamic calendar, this is a descending period and also when the moon is in opposition to saturn which is typically a good day for lots of activity in the garden. The prep will be stirred for an hour which will give participants plenty of time to gain a better understanding of biodynamics and share stories of their own garden.
