BEDS! I hope I'm not putting you to sleep!

There's no need to ever toss out an old bed and there is hope for that box spring in the garden. Make it into a trellis! It has it's uses vertical or horizontal. If your into growing beans and other climbers go vertical but if your into melons try it horizontal. The springs can act as supports for your heavy fruits to grown on.

If you happen to have a glass house (Green house) and your trying to keep a log, seed packages and other things that require posting try using a spring this way, and the clothes pins? I use them for everything that requires clipping!

The kids are grown and you find yourself with one of those cribs that no one today would dare put their baby into. Recycle it to the garden!

Here's some other nifty ideas.

If you happen to be crafty, try finding other ways to use the springs. I think they would make wonderful vertical plant supports that you could screw into the ground to support young garden plants. Here's an idea to inspire you.

  • l'm going to be looking out for an old bed frame or similar to hang in my new shed. l have been trying to think of what l can hang my tools up on and now l have a possible answer.
    • I remember the first time I saw beds used besides sleeping in. It was at a restaurant in San Francisco called "The Spaghetti Factory". Inside all the seating booths were the headboards and footboards of old beds. It looked like everyone was eating in bed! The second time was out on one of the other islands, a young gardener had recycled old beds into her garden beds. It was so sweet! The seed was planted in my head forever!
