Help, I always thought even if everything else failed anyone can grow silverbeet! And I have, up until now. Now 3 out of 4 of my silverbeet plants are covered with something that looks like dust and can be rubbed off with minimal effort but I'm thinking it's something growing over the leaves as one plant is still perfect. Any ideas?

My rock melon plants have powdery mildew. I snapped off all the affected leaves and I put them straight into therubbish, not my compost. I made up a baking soda/detergent spray and I've used it twice in the last few days. I'm going to leave it for a week now. I've got so many melons, I hope the plants can cope with this weather. Good luck with your remaining silverbeet Kt.... put some seeds down!

Curcubits (cucumber, zucchini, melon) are very prone to powdery mildew but I've never heard of it on silverbeet before.
