sweet corn leaf damage

My sweet corn plants have unusual shredded damage to the leaves that I don't recognise coming from snails/slugs. Can anyone shed light on this? I'm wondering if it is from earwigs. It's starting to look pretty awful so I'll probably need to put some more seeds down.

  • hi Debbie, went out with a torch last night - baby slugs were on the corn. I picked
them off and hurled them onto the lawn. Oh and I found out centipedes are predators....

I have had the same even with Coke bottles around them. I took a leaf to the local garden centre and they still seem to think it is slugs. I put more beer in my snail traps but when I went out at night with a torch not ONE to be seen!!
  • hmmm, mysterious! Nearby the corn there is a huge
population of centipedes bedding in wet newspaper I
use for mulching... Maybe it's those guys?
