whats this on my pears?

does anyone know what this disease is I have on my three semi-dwarf pear trees?  It just seems to be affecting the skin, not the flesh.  I have to peel them to eat them.  There doesnt seem to be any other part of the tree affected, a little bit maybe on the leaves.  I have other fruit trees nearby that dont seem to be affected at all, just the pear trees.  I look in my gardening books but end up getting confused about what it could be?!

      My book says quince/pear leaf blight prune tree dispose of prunings not on the compost heap treat with copper and again in the spring.
