A Christchurch Ooooby gathering in March

Hi!

I'm going to be in Christchurch from Tuesday night March 16th and leaving Friday afternoon on the 19th. While I have several meetings, public events and conversations lined up, and I'd love to connect with and have some dialogue around Ooooby initiatives while there.

I'd like to hear what you have been doing - I see some of it online, but can't possibly keep up and am hoping to get a download from you.

And I'd be happy to have a chance to share some of the things that I am aware of and where things are going. The Grower's market is looking awesome and about to launch! I'd love to show this off to you all.

Please connect with me via this discussion, and suggest some possible venues and ideas for some fuin ways to spend a little time together. Who knows, by mid March you may have some of the amazing weather we have had up here, and we can enjoy some time in someone's garden.

Here's what I'm up to so far:

  • Arrive Tuesday (16th) at 5pm (yes, I'm flying)

  • Wed morning (breakfast) meeting with Susan Krumdieck and her students.
  • Wed lunch (noon) with Rhys Taylor and Sue Jarvis (5/83 Huxley Street, Sydenham)
  • Wed afternoon (3pm) Transition Town Diamond Harbour & Port Lyttelton Project gathering.
  • Wed night (7:30) Screening In Transition Movie - Sumner Union Church Hall

  • Thu morning (11:00-1:30) workshop hosted by ECAN
  • Thu night (7:30) In Transition Movie St Albans Community Centre

  • Fri morning (9:00-11:30 TBC) Workshop hosted by CCOSS
  • Fri afternoon (3:10) head back to Waiheke

PS: If you havent yet watched the recent Jamie Oliver talk he gave at TED in the US, I highly recommend it. It's a great conversation starter!

  • I'm hoping to get to the movie tonight. If we can't make it, is there anywhere else we can see the film? Is it online anywhere?
    • Hi Jules,

It was a great visit to Christchurch. Lots of valuable dialogue across many different organisations. The In Transition movie is here.

  • Hi James,

It would be great to meet you. I'm a fairly "passive" Ooooby member at the moment, just taking part in local group discussions every now and then, but I'm hoping to get more involved this year. It would be great to talk to you about what's happening with Ooooby and how we can get some of the "buzz" going in Christchurch. I fear I could probably only do the Tuesday night though. I'd be happy to host a get together at my place - it's smallish though so if numbers got high we might need a bigger venue!

    Cheers, Jo.
