  • More detail on the new PNFM-
    1) starts Sunday 15 Nov
    2) located at the little walking mall off the southwest corner of the Square, outside the French Patissirie
    3) runs 9-1, maybe longer (to be determined)
    4) there's a fundraising movie, "Food Inc." being shown at Downtown Cinema, 8.30 pm this Wed 14 Oct, for PNFM

I checked against the official FMNZ list of authentic farmer's markets, and the only one within an hour's drive is the Fielding one, downtown there from 9-2 on Fridays. The Palmerston North one will be a great compliment to that, in service of the local area.

The only criticism of it that I have up front is that, given the one-hour-radius, there could easily enough have been Saturday hours for this. Approximately 25% of growers are now excluded, as they have Sunday morning commitments at church and thus won't be able to set up sales booths. I am out of the running myself, thusly, so I wish you all well but won't be involved in organisation or participation of the PNFM as it now stands.

Good luck! Please continue to use this Discussion space for further discussion on a possible ooooby booth at PNFM or the Fielding farmers market, or more broadly for further local food system initiatives.
    • Hi Jay, I've just got my gardens set up but once I'm going strong I'd be interested in getting involved in the Feilding Farmers market. I am there every week stocking up anyway! Not too sure how much time I could devote having the kids in tow but happy to help where I can.
  • Could be interested, tho not too much surplus for me yet in November, There might still be some grapefruit left and plant seedlings
  • HI, sounds fantastic, we are dairy farmers and bee keepers, so plenty of goods here!!! Also have a 1/4 acre vege garden started this season so will have plenty of produce over summer, and a glass house that could also do seedlings. Very keen to sell surplus produce/goods and be involved. When in Novemeber, may have a chance to get plenty of seedlings going in the glass house now to sell as probably not much form the garden in Nov. However, always have milk, honey and watercress as a back up available at any time. Keep in touch.
    • Hi Traci, please forgive me (everyone!) for being a cheeky and heading a tad off subject but are you set up to sell raw milk from your sheds? I've been getting raw milk off and on from out Whakarongo way but I keep missing milking time and, having two young kids to manage, it's a little bit too far away from Feilding to pop back and forth. If you're any closer and able to supply raw milk I'd appreciate you dropping me a line! Thanks :)
