  • I watched this and found it very interesting. It has given me something to think about. Intellectually I could argue for veganism but when I listen to my body it needs more than this and grains don't sit well with me. It would be nice to move towards better use of the planet and kinder treatment of all creatures. I like Joel Salitin's quote about his animals, "they have a happy life just one bad day"
  • I'm also reading this at the moment ("The Vegetarian Myth", by Lierre Keith.) It's a compelling read, a searing piece of polemic from someone who was a vegan for 20 years. Her analysis of the environmental costs of conventional agriculture is frightening. Her argument about the costs of growing annual grains is new to me. I'm not sure it's all correct but I'm glad she's started the discussion and I encourage people to read it. It's sparking some intense reactions and there's some pretty petty, nasty discussions happening (eg on the reviews page at Amazon). I take the point that's been made about the possible lack of rigour in the author's references and I hope more work will be published that expands/refutes/corroborates key ideas here. And it's been a timely remind for me to listen to my body. More carbs have crept into my diet (especially after I started baking my own sourdough) and all the old problems are re-emerging.
  • I'm just reading this book now - talk about timing eh?

Really interesting stuff - this whole turning modern food info on it's head is fascinating.  Have also read "Primal body, Primal mind" and "Gut and Psychology Syndrome"  and "Put your heart in your mouth" - all along the same lines
