  • \thanks so much for that, Kate, it is a hot enough day today, probably have cut them a bit close , but will keep that in mind for later. sorry to hear your arm is so sore, it will be a frustrating 6 weeks for you no doubt, here's hoping at least the weather will be kind
    love kali
  • Good afternoon Kali. Just back from Hospt to have the temp back-slab plaster replaced with a bright red fibreglass sporty number. Lots of pain again now though, as the arm's been moved about a lot in the process due to having more X-Rays taken too. I know it will settle more quickly this time than it did last week after the fall when I broke it.. so I will cope better this time now that the initial damage to the rest of me, done in the fall is not causing pain it was last week... No hope at all though sadly of being now able to care for & do tasks which would have kept my garden in the good condition it was in before my fall... it's got to now just do the best it can & nature will now have a free hand to do as she will for the next six weeks.
Kali, just a tip 4 u.. When cutting off the leaves.. don't cut them right back to the point where the leaves the stem... cut them on a hot day ( helps seal the wound ) to the nob created by the 1st leaf... Some natural dye-back will then sometimes follow & then the leaf will come away from the stem later after this has happened... The reason for doing it this way.. is that.. you don't want to create an entry point that will stay open long & thereby allow any bacteria that may be in your tomato area have a chance to infect your plants... this of course ( as u will know ) is aided by wet or too humid conditions..So.. leaving your de-leafing to do on a hot day.. means the cuts seal quickly... allowing that to not become a problem... Hope this is of use to you.. I now have Toms just under tennis ball size & the trusses are setting well even though it's been far less than perfect weather wise. Blessings & may you & yours have a wonderful Xmas season... with lots of sunshine too of course.
    Cheers Kate.
  • Hi Kate, I have been removing lots of tomato leaves, certainly looks much more tamed than it normally is in the greenhouse this year! lots of little green blobs starting to form, I look at them every day and will them on!
  • poor you hope your arm is feeling better soon, more rain on the way grrrr
boy next door has chicken pox, just waiting to see if my boy(s) will come down with it.
  • HI coaster kate, how does your garden grow? I'm at Rapahoe, how bout you? garden is well watered, lots starting to grow well, hopefully the el nino effect will allow us some sun over the holidays.
