Not growing yet, but come December I will have my own place at Muriwai Beach and I want to start a permaculture garden. The land is by the beach and there's a high quantity of sand in the soil, as well as salt in the air. I'd like to learn how to get the soil to a good level, and design to protect the plants from too much salty wind, creating good foundations for a productive permaculture garden. I would love some direction on how to get started! What to read, who to contact etc

Good to get your own place in Dec. You might want to get a head start, with desired seedlings ready to plant, when you move. Seeds can be sprouted in the hot water cupboard, on a plate, paper towel, top & bottom. Wet with water, drain, & place in plastic bag. When sprouted, small containers of seed raising mix, on a sunny window sill works.
