I have a tiny patch with lots of parsely so I don't eat it faster than it can handle! I currently have spinich and broad beans and beets and brocelli and a problem with spelling vege names it would seem! I also have two bantams, French and Saunders.

  • hi Jim, l have a permanent set up where l bought a plastic pet feeding bowl that has one for food and one for water. The water part has a hole that you can put the top of a 2.5 litre plastic soft drink bottle into.
  • Hi There,

Wandering dew is high in oxalic acid much the same as silverbeet, so the danger is not immediate, its really an issue that builds up over time from prolonged "grazing".

Make sure that they have plenty of other food when in the wandering dew though , as the idea is for them to scratch it all up and turn it over, rather than eat it.....but given it is a green if hungry they will eat if they have too.

Depending on how many chooks youv'e got and how much wandering dew you have. I'd rotate them on a fortnightly to monthly basis, with a good spell on grass in between. With tht length of time they should really suppress the wandering dew in the area they are tractoring.

    Cheers
    Rihard
