  • Hello Richard ,

I am interested by your comment about Wandering Dew and getting rid of it by putting my chickens on to it. Do you think it would be okay for them day on/ day off? I am concerned that my wee hens might be harmed but if its safe then I would pursue war against this pest!
  • Hi Richard,
No problem with your rabbit comment - I am not a vegetarian and yes I do breed the bunnies for our own table. The fellow pictured, Robbie, is the boy of our breeding pair of Flemish Giants (he weighs in at 6.2 kilos). The breeding pair are tame pets and their offspring are, well, delicious. ;-)
We have hutches for them, with a large part of the back yard fenced off for their run. Obviously from about 10 weeks boys and girls must be let out for runs separately, as affections quickly stop being sibling-ly! Bunnies are actually quite happy in hutches for most of the day (the time they'd be in their burrows in the wild) but really need good long grazing times morning and evening in order to express their natural behaviours.

Happy to chat more about it if you're interested. I've found them to be very rewarding animals to raise - a delight to keep. Not without a fair bit of work though! Unless you've got a large space to graze them in food costs mean that your meat doesn't really end up cheaper than good organic meat in the shops - but you know they've had a great life!
  • Hi Richard would love to get some herb plants of you would be excellent with my Thai chillies and would love to chat about passionfruit
  • Hi Richard, nice to see you on the site :-) And it will be great to see your pic on here too. How about the one Minka did for the Gulf News article.

Did you see the classes for the open day on Saturday - see Events Page. And we have two of the top musicians coming to play for us - Katie Soljak and Al Reeves! Rock and Roll!
  • Perfect. Look forward to catching up.
  • Hello Richard! Is this the LOPEC Ricard? Welcome to Ooooby? So good that you could join us. I look forward to seeing your photos and reading your contributions.
