Tell us about your garden and what you're growing
I have just moved to NZ so we are just starting up our garden here. Right now I just have a few fruit trees, a vegie patch and some chooks. But looking forward to developing quickly! A greenhouse is next on the list. Right now I would love to track down some rare breed meat chooks, a local cow and/or goat that I can help to milk and a NZ heirloom seed company.

Google seed savers N.Z. There's one in Christchurch thats $10 - $2o to join and you can get free seeds and give back seeds. There is also one down south in Riverton. Also look up Piko Piko in Christchurch. Its a cool wee organic shop, pretty sure they sell seeds. Another place i've found is Mapua country trading, {google} not as up there as Koanga but i think really good. and ya know we live in the south island and Koanga seeds is top of the north, when it comes to growing the north and south are 2 diff worlds {please note that i know Koanga get seed from all over the country} spesh if your inland south island, infact top of the south {where Maupa is } is also another world to us for growing things. Thats what i love about N.Z is that it has such broad spectrum of areas to grow stuff E.G here in Cromwell is such a fruit bowl for growing stone fruit apples, grapes and olives and half an hour up the road to Arrowtown the season seams to be a couple of weeks behind and the winters a little bit harder. ,so Mapua if ya gunna get plants would prob be a betta choice, {no disprespect to Koanga}. Less freight cost, and a little more adapted to our climate. Little tip. If you buy plants from Omarou or other coastal towns, get them in spring early summer, so they have got the summer/Autum to adapt to Kurow climate before winter.

Welcome ! We have a 4m X 10m Flexi-tunnel house. Only been here a year, so recently put a new skin over the galvanised fame, and am gradually getting it set up for hydroponics. Will post photos, when fucctioning. Heritage seeds can be purchased from Koanga Gardens, here at Kaiwaka. They are changing their name soon.
Cheers,
