I have very small garden in a U shape around my house. It is well established and as a senior person, age wise, (with arthritis) it has simple easy care planting. ie one white japanese anenome border under a pair of cherry trees along a boundry fence; a rose bed with catmint filling the gaps beneath and 2 runner bean tepees against the fence along the drive; another bed along one wall of the house currently grows mini agapanthas in front and tall red alstramia at the back. (My current project is to dig out the agies and alstramia and fill that bed with yellow clivis). There is a high wall garden on the other side of the house covered in star jasmine and fronted with a row of golf ball pittos On that side also there are 2 raised vege gardens and a wine barrel currently growning lettuces, nz spinich, self sewn squash & scallopini. Under a well controlled fejoa tree I've recently planted herbs, nasturtiums and sweetpeas.
