Tell us about your garden and what you're growing

We have been in the process of reorganising the Gardens for the last year after new office space went in to an area that was previously, gardens, glasshouse, and orchard. We have planted a lot of fruit trees with intention of having most fruit types available in the future. Our community gardens are also a source for folks to gain knowledge about permaculture and organics as well as a demonstration for providing raised beds for people with disabilities who enjoy volunteering and gardening. Our goal is creating a space open to everybody, regardless of ability and to celebrate the diversity of our local community. We sell produce in our shop on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 10 AM--3 PM. We also grow on pohutukawas for Project Crimson as well as a variety of ornamental plants and natives available at a reasonable cost. In the near future, we hope to create allotment space that was lost during reconstruction here.

  • Hi Scott. I'm always open to talk to Justine about setting something up in Rodney.  Sounds interesting.  The market stall project is on ice at the moment while we pull together the right team and agreements.  Fingers crossed it will be open again soon.

Also happy to talk at the next market.  When is it?

  • Cheers Scott and no worries!! Will be interesting to see how the crops do this summer, the pysllid was pretty rampant here in gizzy and many potato growers were badly affected....doesnt seem like theres much you csan do other than prevention through organic sprays and the like.
Hope winter is treating you well : )>
  • Hi Scott. Thanks for letting us know about the market. If a local person is interested in starting an Ooooby Stall, they can join Ooooby Crew group to get the ball rolling.

  • Hello Scott. Welcome. Your master gardener program looks amazing. You might want to add it as an event in the events section toward the bottom of the main page. Enjoy oooobying!!
