I tried several vegetables last summer (tomato, pepper, lettuce), but realized I only have enough sun for the lettuces. Nothing else really grew enough to harvest.

Don't let them dry completely out! keep them moist and warm, in the sunlite. If the seed is fresh and viable, they will pop. After they pop, keep conditions the same, moist, warm and sunny. After all danger of frost, take them outside in full sun. Then, add fertilizer moderatly.
That sounds amazing. I"m going out of town for a week, but when i get back I'll start some research. I'd love to grow them. I'm just a beginner at gardening, so I might be looking you up to ask some questions about it. Do they need full sun? I'd probably put them in pots and try to move them around to get as much sun as possible. As you know that's my biggest difficulty!
I did grow the Wolfberries. I started them very early in my old greenhouse in potting soil. Kept them real warm and moist all the time. Transplanted them June 1st and did normal feeding and watering. They reached 5 feet tall by October 1st.! They are really narley Bush/Vines. They spread all over. You can trim them and I will have to in Late winter. They are thorny too.
You want to be careful as there are two varieties being sold. I did some research on the net and found the name of the one that grows way up in Northern China. That's the one you want. I had all the info but my computer crashed a while back and I lost tons of info.
They are very hardy and would probably grow in CHI Towne. Out of 10 Bush/Vines, I got about 5 gallons for the first year. They are extremely healthy eating with lots of trace minerals. You could grow a few in big pots.
I"m miles away from Oprah! :) , but I still live in an area where each building is 3 stories high, including mine. Last year I thought maybe there were spots that had full sun, but nope.....
